Formula Fortunes Slots

The countdown is one before the flag drops and the racecars take off. Formula Fortunes Hold and Win slots is a sports slot with fantastic bonus features and payouts. It only has 7 paylines and a game RTP of 94.7%, so you might expect it to be a game where you win infrequently. That's not the case.

The Game Design

Formula Fortunes has 5 reels on a 5 x 3 grid that's bordered by the red, yellow, and green lights, two race cars, the stadium, and confetti for the winning racer. Game controls are found at the bottom and include the "?" mark to bring up the paytable, the buttons to change your bet, the spin and autoplay buttons, and controls for the audio. Bets range from 21 cents to $210 in this game.

One of the biggest differences is the Rapid Play mode that allows you to have the computer automatically play your specified number of spins without having to watch them. We think this feature takes away some of the excitement, especially if the bonus feature isn't triggered in this time.

The layout of the controls is easy to understand. While you're focused on those, don't miss the Bonus Buy-In button that's above them in a dark banner. You can click that to pay a fee (25 times your bet) and automatically trigger the bonus round.

The Paytable

Many of the symbols in Formula Fortune slots are poker symbols. Payouts are not giant, but the trio of bonus features makes up for this. With all symbols, you have to have three or more matching symbols.

  • 9, 10, and Jack - 3, 10, or 50 coins
  • Queen, King, or Jack - 4, 12, or 75 coins
  • Driver - 7, 25, or 120 coins
  • Tire - 15, 30, or 150 coins
  • Winner - 12, 35, or 200 coins
  • Champagne Bottle - 15, 45, or 500 coins
  • Formula Fortunes Logo - 20, 60, or 1,000 coins

The Bonus Features

Formula Fortunes has several bonus features. The first occurs in the base game. The game has three wilds on the first, third, and fifth reels. The first reel has the Green Race Car. The third reel has a Red Race Car, and the fifth has the Blue Race Car. When any of them appear on the reels, the F1 Race feature begins. The car stays frozen on its reel until the feature ends. Once a car reaches the finish line at the top of the reels and you win one of the prizes.

  • Green Car - Instant Cash Prize
  • Red Car - Hold and Win Bonus Round
  • Blue Car - 10 Free Spins

The Hold & Win bonus brings you to a new screen where there are 15 spaces. A gold medal that appears on the reels freezes in place and resets the re-spins counter to three. If you're able to fill all of the spaces, you win the biggest jackpot. Trophy symbols absorb the value of the medals currently on the screen. The game also has three jackpots that can be awarded through this bonus round. When the bonus round ends, either by winning the jackpot or running out of re-spins, you win all of the cash that's in the gold medals and trophies on the reels.

During the Free Spins bonus round, you get 10 free spins. Both the free spins and Hold & Win bonus rounds can be triggered automatically by paying the Bonus Buy-In.

Our Game Rating

When we played 10 rounds at $14 per spin, how much did we win or lose? It took to the seventh spin before anything happened. At that point the F1 Race feature began. Blue cars were very quick to race to the top and trigger the 10 free spins bonus. During those free spins, our total winnings came to $28. That was all we had for wins in Formula Fortunes, so we didn't seem to have a lot of luck.
